Myths, Legends, And Folklore: Creating Stories

This week we continued to create our stories as we had the students elaborate on the stories that they came up with last week. We went over the importance of the beginning, middle, and end of each story and made sure that each student's story had a clear development. Some students decided to change their stories from last time, so there was a lot of one-on-one time spent with each student before they began working on their final illustrations.

When the students were ready to work on their illustrations we gave some demonstrations on different ways to illustrate. Matt gave a wonderful demonstration on collage. He showed the students how to cut out shapes using construction paper and place them together to make a bigger picture. I gave a demonstration on water colors and how to use different brushes for different mark making. When the students were ready they took their good paper and the paper that they made during our first class and began to work on the illustrations for their books. Next week we hope to finish illustrating and move onto book binding.
