Something Interesting

I wanted to post a video of one of our preschool students. Jack described to me during sketchbook time the process of his drawings. He essentially draws first and then decides what the drawing represents afterward. Let me know your thoughts on his explanation!

We later went on to talk about what Jack thinks these two drawings might turn into in the end. He said the Earth and Moon.

  1. It's Okay if kids do not know what they are drawing about or if they do not want to talk about it when they are doing so. We, as adults, sometimes are like them, too. So, do not be too "agressive" or be an "interrupter" when children are drawing/making art. Sometimes, being laid-back and silent is the greatest support for children.

Children develop mentally, physically, socially, and emotionally. In their physically development, children develop large muscles (such as jumping and climbing) and small muscles (such as cutting and drawing). In this video clip, obviously the boy was keen on developing his small muscles. Art is one of the best things for children to do because it helps them to develop not only physically but also holistically.
